ICC PTC order initiating consideration of victim participation in Afghanistan situation: The Pre-Trial Chamber III of the ICC has approved an order to the Victims Participation and Reparations Section (VPRS), allowing for the conduct of a preliminary assessments of victim representation for the situation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

The Victims Participation and Reparations Section has been ordered to identify individuals, as well as community leaders of affected groups who may act on those groups behalf. VPRS will collect victim representations, and submit any incoming representations to the Pre-Trial Chamber, with a final report to be submitted to the Chamber at the closure of the deadline for victim representations (currently January 31, 2018).

On October 30 2017, Prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda informed the Presidency of her decision to request judicial authorisation to begin an investigation into the situation in Afghanistan, and on November 3 2017, the Presidency assigned the situation to the Pre-Trial Chamber. (ICC PTC).
